The Marshall Islands-based holding company Advantage Tankers has allegedly bought five MR1 tankers from Cyprus-based shipping company Interorient, VesselsValue’s data shows.

The ships in question are Baltic Marshall, Baltic Merchant, Baltic Ambition, Baltic Faith and Baltic Force. They were reportedly sold in an en bloc transaction for USD 12 million each on May 12.

All of the five chemical/product tankers fly the flag of Hong Kong and were built at South Korean Hyundai Mipo shipyard in 2006.

With a deadweight of around 37,000 tons, each of the ships has a length of 183 meters and a width of 27 meters.

World Maritime News contacted Advantage Tankers and Interorient for more details on the matter, however, the companies are yet to reply.

With the newest addition, Advantage Tankers makes an entry into the product tanker segment. Currently, the company has a fleet of eleven tankers comprising five Aframaxes and six Suezmaxes.
